Learning the Art of Living Through Martial Arts
Black Belt & Masters
Students who show the highest level of commitment are often nominated by the staff to become part of the Martial Arts Company Black Belt Club. BBC members have not only demonstrated their commitment to martial arts training, but also an understanding of its role in their lives outside the Do Jang. Sparring, grappling and weapons training are added to the BBC student's available curriculum and they can be recognized by their red uniforms and distinctive leg patch.

Regardless of their age or current training level, each member of the Black Belt Club has pledged to become a living example of one of the most basic truths in the martial arts:

"A black belt is a white belt...who never gave up."
Black Belt Club members who achieve their black belt are eligible for the pinnacle of training at the Martial Arts Company, the Masters Club. This advanced placement program is the first step in the path towards using martial arts skills as a trainer and mentor and includes career development instruction as well as teaching techniques.

Much more than just a choice of a career path in the martial arts, the Masters program gives the black belt a deeper understanding of their own skills as they begin to teach others.  In time, with dedication, they become the embodiment of the optimist's creed:
I promise myself...
...to be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.
...to talk health, happiness and prosperity to everyone I meet.
...to make all my friends feel that there is something of value in them.
...to look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.
...to think only the best, to work only for the best and to accept the best.
...to be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.
...to forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
...to wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature I meet a smile.
...to give so much time to the improvement of myself that I have no time to criticize others.
...to be too large for worry, too noble for anger and too strong for fear.
